Memphis Grizzlies House at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
The Grizzlies have developed a unique relationship with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital that began in 2002 after the team relocated from Vancouver, B.C. to Memphis. Memphis Grizzlies House at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital serves as the foundation for which the rest of the partnership is built. The Grizzlies pledged $5 million towards the construction of Grizzlies House in 2002. Grizzlies Houseopened its doors to St. Jude Patients and families in January 2004. The approximately 70,000 square feet, 100 room building serves as a free, short-term housing facility for children undergoing treatment at St. Jude. Grizzlies players and staff have been active in the team’s partnership through hospital visits, autographed memorabilia, and ticket and personal donations.
The team continues to support Grizzlies House and St. Jude through a variety of initiatives, such as player visits, promotion of the national Thanks and Giving and Hoops for St. Jude campaigns, game ticket donations, and fundraising auctions.
